We will be having Competition tryouts on April 25th from 9 am to 11 am for dancers age 8 and up looking for an opportunity to compete!
At the tryouts:
-
We will work on technique to assess where everyone’s skills are.
-
Learn a couple short routines.
-
Let the new dancers meet the girls already on our competition team!
-
Let parents ask questions at the beginning or end of tryouts 😊
-
Sign competition waivers and contracts.
Being on our competition team is nothing like dance moms! We work on advancing dance technique and building a strong base for future dance opportunities, same as our normal recreational classes but in a more advanced setting. Being a TEAM is extremely important to me, so we also do extra activities outside of class for team bonding.
We practice all summer long so that we can start our routines right away in September and finish them by Christmas. We have a parent meeting in the fall to discuss what competitions we go to, so that parents can have a say in everything we do. During the fall, all competition students must take a technique class as well as their dance classes. Other than the technique class, all other classes are optional in the fall. The number of dances your dancer does is up to you and the prices are the same as the recreational classes!
Summer Schedule starting June 8th and ending August 21st:
-
These are the mandatory summer classes. Dancers will either take the classes labelled 1 or 2 (not all 6 classes). We will let you know right after tryouts!
-
This year, we are also requiring comp girls to take one recreational class of their choice during the summer. Because of this requirement, you’ll receive a $10 discount per month on one recreational class.
-
Competition classes total a tuition of $150 per month or pay for the whole summer for $435! (This fee does not include the recreational class).
-
Summer vacations are expected, just let the instructors know ahead of time when you will be gone.
Being a part of a Competition team is a bigger commitment. Girls are expected to work hard and be at class as often as possible.
Girls that aren’t quite ready for competition will be offered a spot on our pre-competition team. These girls still take all the same summer classes. In the fall they will have a separate technique class to work on learning technique to be able to join the competition team the following year!
Let me know if you have any questions!
